Shawn

Shawn has lost his first tooth! I thought for sure this tooth would hang by a thread for days but all of the sudden it just fell out! He was very proud of his lost tooth and super excited for what was under his pillow in the morning.

It's a Golden Birthday!

Today Collin is 7! 7 on December 7th. I can't believe how fast he is growing up. He is now in the first grade and loves school. For his birthday, we gave him a pottery class. He is so excited to make lots of pottery, even using the wheel!

Happy Birthday Collin, We Love You!

Christmas Tree

We have made a tradition out of going and cutting down our own Christmas Tree. Seeing as this is our first year in Kentucky, I didn't know where a place was yet. Micah is traveling quite a bit this month so when I saw Costco was selling fresh cut trees, I quickly made the purchase and had it loaded into the car. The tree was heavy, the trunk was huge and since it was all wrapped up I didn't know what it would look like once we got it home.

We opened the tree to find the biggest fattest tree I had ever seen. Not my choice of a tree but Micah and the boys were so excited. We got it into the house, put lights on it (after going to get more strands since we didn't have enough for the monstrosity), and we all enjoyed putting ornaments on the tree. As we were doing all this, I mentioned to Micah that it seemed to lean to one side but he quickly dismissed my worries. After decorating, we ate dinner and all of the sudden we heard a crash...

You know what happend by now, THE TREE FELL OVER!

Who doesn't love a Kit Kat?

The boys love having a piece of their Hallween Candy after dinner. Drew is no different, he sees the candy bags come out and he starts screeching for a piece. His item of choice is a kit kat bar. He can make quite a mess while enjoying it! Everyone needs a "break" once in a while.

November in Kentucky

We have been living in Kentucky for 6 months now!!!! I can't believe it has been that long some days and others it feels like we have been here for longer than that. Seeing as this is our first winter season away from the upper midwest, we are seeing a ton of differences.

  • Hardly anyone has the Old Navy Halloween costumes because it is to warm to wear a heavy costume.

  • It was still light out around 7 pm while we were trick or treating.

  • It is just about 8 am here on Nov 3 and it is still dark out!

  • We haven't even heard talk of any possible snow flakes headed our way!

  • Some kids are still wearing shorts to school.

  • Basketball season is getting started (college basketball is huge around here)

We are embracing the differences of our new area and loving the fact we don't have any snow in sight. I bought the boys winter coats a couple weeks ago and Costco and I am starting to think that they will hardly wear them this winter.

All three boys had a great Halloween. We are in a neighborhood that attracts trick or treating. The streets/sidewalks were packed on Halloween night. Most people sit on their driveway since the flow of trick or treaters is never ending. I think Collin was most excited to hand candy out once we got home. Shawn kept counting the bags of m and m's as we were trick or treating. Drew has discovered that Kit Kat's are his favorite food.
Here are some Halloween pictures as promised. I WILL be posting next week as we are getting closer to someones first birthday!!!

Happy Halloween

I know some of you keep looking for a new post and I keep disappointing you....big post to come this week!

I just sent Collin and Shawn off to school, Halloween, with no costumes in hand and no plans for any Halloween party while they are at school today. It is just another school day at their school not filled with Halloween parades or Halloween parties. You know your kids are getting big when these are not part of the special day. Both boys are excited about Trick or Treating tonight though. I am excited for Drew since I made him a really cute costume! He has worn it to two Halloween events already and people can tell what he is suppose to be! An added bonus when you make the costume yourself. I WILL post pictures on Micah's facebook account tonight and the blog this week.

Happy Halloween!

First Day of School

We all remember at least one of our "First Days of School". Today was Collin's first day of 1st grade and Shawn's first day of Kindergarten (and his first time on the bus to school). I want to say they both got on the bus excited about school but I know Shawn was apprehensive of the bus and finding his classroom. I was excited for them though. We have been here 3 months now and we have met a good amount of people in the area but the boys still long for more interaction with friends. Shawn loved school in Wisconsin and for him it has been 3 months since he has been in school. Collin was at school here for a month so hopefully that will help him feel familiar with the school as he starts.

As for Drew, he will be an only child Monday-Friday. Since he will be still asleep when the boys leave and taking a nap when they get home, he won't see them till after 4 o'clock. Our happy baby is going to miss his brothers. He loves "playing" with them and I am sure will be ecstatic when he sees them in the afternoon.

It all happens so fast...

Drew is 8 months old! He is crawling everywhere! He wants to eat anything he sees us eating. He is pulling himself up on anything he can and starting to cruise from one end of the couch to the other. He is babbling more and more, mostly ma ma ma ma! He loves seeing his brothers and playing with them, I should rephrase that, he likes to watch his brothers play with all his toys (who knew 5 and 6 year old like toys designed for babies).

I can't believe how time flies!

It has been awhile

Well, I don't know what has happened to our summer! The kids go back to school in a month!

We have had some wonderful trips and lots of swimming lessons at home. Collin has hopes of doing swim team next year so he has finally lost of the fear of being in the water and loves to swim. Shawn is doing great with his lessons as well, he even puts his head under the water. Drew enjoys sitting on the hot cement watching all the movement around him.

Speaking of Drew, he is crawling! He loves coming into the kitchen and down the hallway towards the front door. He isn't super fast yet but we know he will be zooming everywhere. He has 4 teeth now and still loves food, which is obvious in these pictures. We have to find the 12-18 month summer clothes for him to wear. He is outgrowing almost all of the 6-12 month clothes.

They like to match!

The boys all wanted to match today.

Collin even changed his shirt to be part of the gang! We are HOT HOT HOT here!. Come visit.

Reading with Dad

Every night we read the kids books before they go to bed. Drew has now decided paper tastes great! So when we read books he has to have a safe book to chew on while he listens to a great one. The book in this picture is If I Ran A Circus, one of Collin and Shawn's favorites.

6 Months and GROWING

Drew is 6 months old! I can't believe how big he is getting each day. We were at the doctor yesterday and he is 20 lbs and 14 oz! He is so chunky in some places! He now has two cute little teeth on the bottom, which he cut through the week of our move. He can almost sit up and he really wants to crawl. He definitely can get where he wants to by rolling though. We are already talking to the boys about closing basement doors behind them and not having any small toys in the family room where Drew can be safely.

The boys love making him smile and they both are able to with little effort. Drew will always give them a smile when they come close to them. He also is great at giving them slobbery kisses, whether they want them or not.

He has been eating baby food for a month now and really enjoys most of it. We tried avocado last week and he decided he wasn't ready for that one. He loves all the fruits but I would have to say he demands more faster when it is bananas. We try the puff cereal but he doesn't seem to care much about it yet. I can't wait till he can eat more finger foods.

It's coming together

We have been in our house for two weeks now. I finally feel that rooms are becoming complete. I did walk in circles for at least a week but now I am trying to get through the sea of boxes in the basement and set it up for everyone to enjoy. The boys are excited to have the toy boxes open.

The next step is to find ways to plug into life in Kentucky. I have to get the boys signed up for swim lessons. Micah has already started softball with the church we have been attending. I need to find something for me to do. If anyone has any ideas I am open to anything. I would love to do a cooking class which I did in WI with a friend before I left, but of course I can't find any near me.

The weather has been interesting. We had 90 degree weather last week and today I am debating on turning on the heat to take the chill out of the house. I know our warm days will come back and I will be wanting these cool ones.

Making Circles

We are here! We have officially moved to Kentucky! The weather has been great, yes a little rain but nothing I can't handle. The truck was unloaded on Tuesday and I feel I keep making circles around the house and not unpacking enough. I don't know where to put anything in the kitchen. I have so much bathroom clutter I keep avoiding those boxes. Collin and Shawn's room has a ton of stuff to be organized. Drew's room is the best of all but has been a staging place for other upstairs rooms. I now have a walk in closet and not enough clothes to fill it...I better go shopping. And then the basement! I haven't opened a single box in it and I keep adding more.
I will post more once I get things unpacked, see you in a year!

Family

As we prepare to move, we have had the opportunity to spend time with lots of family. Since we are going even further away from family we have been fortunate to see so many different family members over the last month. I know we will all miss being close to family. Here are a few pictures from several family visits.

Funny thing about all of our visitors...we went to the zoo with all three groups. We never can get enough of the zoo. I am pleased to report, Louisville has a zoo!

Shawn's B-Day Party

We celebrated Shawn's birthday yesterday with friends from school. We went to a pet store in the Milwaukee area, Hoffers. I can't believe how big it was and all the different animals they had. The kids were able to touch or hold so many animals. A bird, bunny, chinchilla, hedgehog, box turtle, and a bearded dragon. Not to mention the big snake they could have around their neck, being able to feed huge turtles and feeding koi fish (which led to petting them).

For an animal lover like Shawn, it was the perfect place to have a birthday party. Enjoy the pictures

traveling

Is it really March 17??? I don't know what has happened to the month of March. This has been a crazy month. I was in FL last week with just Drew. We had the memorial for my grandmother. It was a great weekend with family which I will write about later.
Right now, I am sitting in the hotel in Louisville, KY. We really are moving! I am house hunting. I arrived yesterday and Micah comes in on Friday. We are going to have a kid free weekend learning the area and finding a home.
No pictures this time! Have a great week to all.

Busy Busy

So Peaceful
At the Circus with Brooke!

Look how big we have gotten!

Life is always hectic with kids! I don't know where the time goes some days. Everyone is doing well. Drew has a cold and it seems like he can't kick it! We need the sun and warm days to help him get better. Collin is busy with Kindergarten and loving everything about it. Shawn has been doing great since his surgery. He is excited for his upcoming birthday.

To add to our chaos of kids, we have exciting to news to share with those of you who don't know yet. We are moving. Micah has accepted a new position out of the area which he is very excited about. We are moving to Louisville, KY. Does anybody know anyone in the area??? He starts at the beginning of April and we all hope to be going by May 1. Yes this is farther than we ever expected to be going but the job is a great fit for Micah and we have learned the importance of liking what you do. The kids seem to be excited about it. Shawn thinks we are moving tomorrow. Collin would like to bring his Kindergarten teacher (who we will all miss terribly). Drew is clueless of course and it will stay that way. Micah is most excited about getting the kids away from Packer fans. They have started converting Collin and Shawn to rooting for the Packers. (I think they do it because they see it irritates Daddy!) I am excited about the move. As many of you know, I moved around a lot growing up. I am the person I am because of it. But I do hope this is it for us. We plan on settling in a home and staying put for a LONG time. We never dreamed that we would move as much as we have but this economy has hit us hard as it has so many of us. We are excited to settle down in an area we can raise our kids and watch them thrive as we stop moving. Micah and I are both going out in a few weeks to scout the area and find a home. If any of you know anything about Louisville, KY let me know!

Bath pictures

This proves that Drew was once little and fit in the tub.
