Florida

We took a great vacation to Florida this past week. We flew into Tampa, FL and then drove to Sarasota where we stayed with my Grandparents.

Our view from the plane, the second to last row of the plane. The last row didn't even have a window.

The first day we were fortunate enough to see a lot of my family. We saw my Uncle Andy, Aunt Susie and Uncle Chuck, who also live in Florida. Then we were lucky enough to see my cousins Stephanie, Jenny, and Carolyn. On top of that, my brother and his family were in Florida and came up to Sarasota for a day to see everyone. Because we are scattered around the country, we do not see each other much and we were all excited for the opportunity.

On Monday we went to the Mote Marine Aquarium. We went with my cousin Jenny and her boyfriend. The kids loved all the animals. Shawn and Collin both touched a sting ray.

On Tuesday we went to my favorite place to visit while in Sarasota, Jungle Gardens. For this trip we went with my Aunt Susie. Jungle Gardens has an area with flamingo's and ducks you can feed. They also have a large amount of birds, which you get to hold! Collin stood next to Micah while he held a bird but Shawn wasn't quite ready for that adventure. Shawn's highlight was seeing the crocodile and alligator's. Lucky for us we got to see them be fed (dead rats). We ended the trip with the wonderful bird show! The birds doing the show have been doing it for over 30 years.

Feeding the flamingo's! I don't think Shawn expected to get this close.

Micah and Collin with their bird. I bet next time Collin will put it on his own arm.

Those are the big highlights from our trip. It was great being able to see My Grandparents and other family members. Most of all, it was nice to take a vacation to the warm sun! We made it to the beach four out of the five days we were in town. I will do a whole post about the beach.
